Straight Ahead Construction, Inc. was established in 2007, by Michael and Maria MacDonell. Michael began working in roadway construction in 1987, as an unskilled laborer for the Demoya Group Inc. He spent 20 years working his way up within the company. The Demoya Group, Inc. was home to Mike and Maria and their family for the majority of their adult lives and they are very proud and humbled by the work they accomplished together. Between 1987 and 2006 they successfully completed over 143 million dollars worth of work within Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Monroe Counties. The Demoya Group gave Straight Ahead Construction, Inc. our first contract in 2007.
In 2006, Mike completed his education by preparing for and passing his Certified General Contractors exam. In 2007 he obtained his CGC license and incorporated Straight Ahead Construction, Inc. With a focus towards family in place, SAC's office began in the "Florida Room" of Mike and Maria's home. Maria became his EEO officer in 2007, Secretary Treasurer in 2009 and is currently our company's President.
In 2010, SAC was given the opportunity to be part of the 826/836 Joint Venture by Condotte America's President Rick Espino. The tri-venture was the second largest project in FDOT's history. This project brought together the best players in South Florida, exposing SAC to other opportunities. At this time, Frank Alexander came on board as our roadway supervisor. Frank and Mike worked together at the Demoya Group for over a decade. Frank's leadership and loyalty has allowed Mike to focus on our company's future. Their relationship is based on mutual integrity and dedication to the team's advancement. Frank's contribution to Straight Ahead Construction, Inc. is immeasurable. His attention to detail in the field and his ability to mitigate and plan has allowed our company to move forward in positive ways.
SAC is worked with Astaldi Construction Corp. on NW 25th Street installing large diameter culverts. This relationship has produced great results for all parties and we are looking forward to the next challenge. The contract with Astaldi and the work completed on the project has allowed SAC to expand and create a commercial diving division.
